Serious photography for me began with my best friend from high school, Byron Wolfram, when we took our sophomore photography class to the next level by building a darkroom in my Grandma's basement canning room. Although we never took our projects too serious, it seemed that we grew up and formed who we were while drenching our hands in developer, stopbath, and fixer. It actually became a way of life. Life happened in the Darkroom.
I think I now base the importance of photography in my life, and the lives of everyone I shoot, by an ideal set in place by my next door neighbors dad. I remember him saying "If the house caught on fire, the first thing I'd run and grab are the boxes of pictures I have of our family". You can't replace these moments, and it is a blessing to have such a vivid way of capturing them. That's why I'm here.
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kent State University in Interpersonal Communication and I credit most of my knowledge of portrait photography and photojournalism to Jesse Boone and Mat Crawford of Finest Moments Photography in Cleveland, Ohio. I've always learned much better hands on, and these guys were never unwilling to share their wisdom. I live in Burton, Ohio where the most commonly heard phrase is "I like it here..."

--family and child photography--
My love of photography began when I was about eleven or twelve. I would spend much of my pocket money on disposable cameras. I took pictures of absolutely everything. It grew into a hobby, and then a passion. I love photography because in our fast paced world, a camera can freeze time. It can make a moment tangible and unforgettable. Photography is also, in my opinion one of the highest forms of communication. It's the only way to get behind someone else's eyes and see something with the same perspective as they.
I've had some formal education in photography & graphic design through Kent State University as well as Lakeland CC in Kirtland, OH. Undoubtedly, I would say that my favorite subjects are people - especially children and couples.
